A bit about me.

Hi, I’m David Corneail — a Senior Product Designer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I design complex digital products with a focus on systems thinking, scalable interaction design, and strong cross-functional execution. My experience spans enterprise-style workflows, onboarding and access experiences, design systems, information architecture, prototyping, and front-end collaboration.

Today, I work on JSTOR at ITHAKA, where I help shape product experiences for access, registration, authentication, and design system needs. Across my roles, I’ve led projects from discovery through delivery, partnered closely with engineers to make designs feasible and durable, and created the artifacts teams need to build with confidence: prototypes, edge-case thinking, structured flows, component guidance, and implementation-ready specifications.

I’m most effective in environments where the work is complex and collaborative — where product, engineering, and business constraints all matter, and where design has to do more than make interfaces look polished. I enjoy aligning teams, facilitating discussion, mentoring other designers, and raising the overall quality and consistency of the work.

My background includes product design, design systems, information architecture, research, facilitation, front-end implementation support, and teaching design to undergraduate students. I care deeply about accessibility, usability, and helping teams move from ambiguity to clear, scalable solutions.

When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my two daughters and dog Waffles — traveling the world while mainly enjoying a Pure Michigan lifestyle.
